Donor Milk to Go Grant

Updated: Aug 8, 2024

After Caroline was delivered stillborn, my milk came in, and I felt Caroline urging me to pump and donate to babies in need. Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas was absolutely amazing with their compassion and helping me get started and accepting almost 1000 ounces of breastmilk from Caroline. Our donation journey has resulted in peace, hope and healing as we navigate grieving the loss of our daughter.

Since that time Brett and I have had two healthy sons, Crash and Maverick. All of our children were born at Mother Frances, where Brett and I are pharmacists, and incidentally is a hospital the Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas supplies. Being a little more savvy mom at Maverick’s birth I purchased donor milk to supplement his feeds while my own supply was being established.  This experience clued me in to a potential way Caroline could help mothers and babies again, by providing a grant to cover the cost of donor milk for babies at Christus in Tyler.

Compliments of Caroline is working closely with the Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas, the Lactation Department and the Children's Miracle Network at Christus Trinity Mother Frances to help bridge the gap of providing newborns with precious donor milk.  In the absence of the mother's breast milk, pasteurized human donor milk is considered the next best alternative by the medical community, preventing deadly necrotizing enterocolitis and sepsis. Compliments of Caroline will provide two bottles of donor milk per infant, on request, to assist with feeds while the mother's milk supply becomes established. The anticipated start date of this project is July 15, 2024. The Donor Milk effort will be ongoing and become the major focus of Compliments of Caroline future fundraising and community awareness and education.

August 2024 Update: August is breastfeeding awareness month, and Compliments of Caroline is proud to announce the Donor Milk to Go Grant, honoring Caroline Noteware who was stillborn March 6, 2018 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital. To contribute to this grant, you can purchase a fundraising tshirt - 100% of the proceeds from the tshirts go to purchase donor milk for babies at Trinity Mother Frances.
